Following the Sutton Parents Forum September Café, Toby Price and Sharman Lawson agreed to meet parents face to face to discuss concerns about the proposed changes to SEN school transport.
We arranged this meeting for October 19th, 2011 at the Good Shepherd Church in Carshalton Beeches.
The panel members were Sharman Lawson, Toby Price, Paul Greendale (Risk Assessment Team), Sarah Waugh (Clinical Psychologist from Sutton CAMHS) and Cllr. Kirsty Jerome.
The meeting was chaired by Mike Dwyer from Contact a Family.
Sharman and her team addressed the key issues already sent to them and more questions voiced by parents on the day.
However, it was clear that there are ongoing problems with current transport arrangements as well as all the concerns regarding the changes.
This session was very productive but a clear need for regular meetings was identified.
Sharman has asked the Sutton Parents Forum to set up a regular SEN Transport Forum which she and Toby will attend to answer queries and concerns about both current and future arrangements.
We have posted a flyer, in early November 2011, to all families on the disability register, inviting them to the first SEN Transport Forum and hope parents will take this opportunity to have a say in how changes to SEN transport are made.
